What is the process to build a home?

A Kevler Homes consultant will meet with you to help and guide you through the process. They will help you find a section and develop a suitable plan to fit your level of investment. Through effective consultation they will provide you a fixed price contract to prevent unexpected cost overruns through the building process.

Can you offer finance?

We have associates that specialise in construction finance who can assist you to establish your level of funding.

How much will a new build cost?

Building cost can be very different depending on your plans and specifications. We provide a fixed price for you and we guarantee you there is no hidden surprise in our building contract. One of our experienced consultants will assist to meet your requirements.

Do you offer a free, no obligation quotation?

Yes. We provide you a quote once you are happy with your plan and specification.

Do you have Standard Plans for us to choose from?

Yes. We provide an impressive range of plans for you to choose from. Our plan range is flexible and any plan can be altered to suit your individual needs and site requirement. Please see our Standard Plans for more details.

Can I customise a plan or do you only have present plans?

Yes. We have an in-house designer who will create a plan to suit your section and investment level which will be done in consultation with you. Your design will be distinctive and match your lifestyle.

Do you have specifications for us to choose from?

Yes. You can choose from our standard specification range or we can modify the inclusions of these specifications for your personalised home.

Can I see some of your finished projects?

You can visit our Show Homes. You can also view photos of our completed projects in our Gallery.

How long will it take to build my house?

For a standard designed house, it generally takes 24 weeks to 30 weeks from signing your Building Contract to the Practical completion of your home. Please see detailed time frames from our Build Process.

Do you handle our application with the council?

Yes. We include the territorial council application as part of our service. Kevler Homes has an excellent relationship with all the local Councils.

What is your payment structure?

We have two payment options: Progressive payment and Turn-key:

  • Progressive payment
    • Contract Deposit (GST inclusive): 10% of contract price
    • The balance of contract price shall be paid in staged payments as follows:
    • 1 Completion of Foundation 20%
      2 Completion of Roof 20%
      3 Completion of Cladding 20%
      4 Completion of Interior Linings 15%
      5 Completion of Painting 20%
      6 Practical Completion 5%
  • Turn-key:
    • If you choose from one of our House and Land packages, you only pay a 10% deposit and the balance on completion of your home.

Is there any warranty for the house?

 Yes. We offer a comprehensive 2-year maintenance warranty and a 10-year Master Build Guarantee.

How do you manage the build?

We precisely plan your project to meet time-frames. We organise our timeframe with all the sub trades (plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, painters, plasterers, tilers etc). We inspect and monitor every step of the building process and make it as stress-free as possible for you.

What is Building Consent

A Building Consent is issued by the Territorial Council as a formal approval to undertake building work in accordance with approved plans and specifications. Prior to build, we will apply for the building consent for your house. Territorial Council takes a minimum of 20 working days to issue a Building Consent.

What is a Code Compliance Certificate

A Code Compliance Certificate is issued by the Territorial Council, confirming that the council is satisfied that the building work undertaken complies with the approved building consent. Prior to handing the home over to you, we will apply a Code Compliance Certificate for your house. Territorial Council usually takes 20 working days to issue a Code Compliance Certificate.

What is a Provisional Cost Sum?

A Provisional Cost Sum is an agreed estimated amount included in your Building Contract. Provisional Cost Sums are usually provided for specific items that are not selected until a later stage in the building process.

Typically, builders provide Provisional Cost Sums for: council fees, foundation/structural engineering services, soil test, joinery – kitchen- laundry- built in furniture- robe shelving, floor covering- carpet- tiles- timber- vinyl.

At Kevler Homes we provide fixed price contract or only provide Provisional Cost Sums for kitchen, laundry and wardrobe joineries

What is Master Build Guarantee?

Master Build is the oldest and largest provider of guarantees in New Zealand.

Only a Registered Master Builder can offer Master Build Guarantee to you.

Master Build Guarantee provides cover for Loss of Deposit, Non-Completion, Defects in Materials, Defects in Workmanship, Structural Defects, and Rot and Fungal Decay Cover (leaky building).
